Strange Days 🇺🇸 (Zvláštní dny)

The presence of the film visionary James Cameron has made it into this section twice. In addition to directing Terminator, as a co-writer and producer, he is credited with the film Strange Days, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who embodied the exception that proved the rule among the male cast of Hollywood at the time. This neo-noir sci-fi from the late 1990s brings the atmosphere of nervous anticipation of the arrival of the new millennium and the fears associated with it. Set in a time when human recollections can be stored on memory disks, the crime story is dominated by the character of a morally ambivalent noir renegade – an ex-cop with the face of Ralph Fiennes. Despite being a commercial flop in its day, from today’s perspective it is especially valuable as a reflection of its time as it revolves around the racism-related street riots that rocked 1990s Los Angeles.
